A Level Exams 2022 | Can we book a summer holiday yet?

This week we got one step closer to finding out the all important exam dates for students sitting their GCSE and A Level’s this summer.

You may wonder why this is even important, but as teachers when planning student programmes it is essential to know when the exams are going to take place. It’s a bit like the Olympics of our teaching world, we have just finished our ‘off season’ in the summer holidays and it is so important that we get it right so that our students are at their ‘peak’ when they sit their final examinations in the summer.

When creating student study programmes our tutors tailor each students tuition to accommodate individual needs, whilst ensuring students develop the all important exam technique!

So when are the exams?

The major exam boards have released their provisional timetables this week and you can access these via the links below:

The provisional timetables suggest that AS exams will start on Monday 16th May 2022 with most A levels starting the following week on Monday 23rd May 2022.

Does this mean I can book a holiday?

Well at the moment the timetables are provisional and there is a comments period that runs until the end of September. We therefore expect to see confirmed timetables released in October alongside the governments decision on any adjustments to the summer exams.

If the provisional timetables are accurate students will expect to have completed all exams within a 6 week window, with the final exam falling on the 28th June 2022.

Reading into the exam board timetables they do appear to have factored in a contingency of 4 additional exam weeks which could take exams up to the very end of July.

It is however looking very likely that exams in 2022 will be returning to what was the pre-covid format.
